那天我就是想让我爱人给我照一张相，我在后退的时候，没有注意进入了他们（国外记者）的采访范围，但没有进入摄像范围。一个外国朋友示意了一下，我赶紧回头看怎么回事，发现之后我也觉得很不好意思。这时候那个记者就用英文说让我离开一点，我当时还是微笑着回应。正要离开的时候，他们采访组的一个人，好像是副摄像师，突然就踢了我一脚，踢在了我的大腿上，并没有踢疼我，但是我心里感到特别的气愤。我态度一直没有错呀，我都要走了，干嘛还要踢我一脚，我当时太冲动了，觉得这是对我人格的侮辱。于是我就上去，让他说 对不起。我的裤子上有很明显的脚印，就在膝盖上边一点。
他说了对不起之后，我就气愤的走开了，在边上的时候，水立方门口很多人都看到了，过来劝我不要气了，我越想心理越不舒服，你们外国人凭什么在北京踢人？难道我为了顾及北京甚至中国人的形象就要平白无故的被踢一脚吗？说实在的当时心理很堵得慌。我也一个中国人，我也是一个有礼貌，有尊严的中国人！我认为他的行为（踢人）是对我的侮辱。所以在采访后，我又过去翻看了那个记者的胸牌。当朋友或者同事和我家的孩子给我看网上的视频的时候，我觉得自己很委屈。他们并不知道完整的事情经过，这种断章取义的做法让我很伤心。
当记者问到周春琳，这是不是给他的生活带来了很不好的影响的时候，周春琳说：“影响不影响的已经无所谓了，她希望广大的网友们能知道事实的真像！”
